The original Lynyrd Skynyrd band was always known as a band that in order to really appreciate their music, you had to see them live. Their music is very complex and it is also extremely orchestrated. Their records in the 1970's sounded unbelievable because of the way they were mixed. On the recordings all of the instruments and all of the vocals can be heard clearly.

When they played live you could hear everything blend perfectly. The dual guitar solos, the thundering bass, the very melodic keyboard solos, the booming drums and the vocal harmonies.
