Rick Dekker - Lead Guitar

Born in Inglewood, California Rick took an interest in music at a very early age. Everywhere he went in the car the radio was on and soon he could sing the words to all of the popular songs. By the time he was 8 years old he was taking guitar lessons.

After a short time of taking guitar lessons Rick discovered he had an exceptional ear for music and so he discontinued the guitar lessons and learned how to play guitar by listening to records and duplicating the sounds he was hearing. By the time he turned 16 he had mastered his guitar playing well enough to join his first band.

During his time with his band southern rock was beginning to take hold in the music scene. Bands such as the Allman Brothers, the Atlanta Rhythm Section, the Outlaws, ZZ top, Molly Hatchett, Marshall Tucker and of course the biggest southern rock band of all time Lynyrd Skynyrd, were all over the radio. For quite some time southern rock ruled the music.

It was about this time Rick knew he wanted to play southern rock in whatever band he was going to be in. He started a classic rock band, the OC Bros, which played all of the top 40 hits from the 70's and 80's with a strong emphasis on southern rock. The OC Bros. were mostly local playing bars, parties and corporate events.

In 2010 Rick finally decided it was time to play the music each night he loved the most... southern rock. His love for Lynyrd Skynyrd and all the great music they created in the short time the original band was together motivated him to start Lyvyn Skynyrd. Since that time he has never looked back and he has no intention of doing so.
